Viagra for Women...
Thrill in a Pill?

What about the new Viagra for women… Addyi?

Addyi is the first prescription drug designed to boost sexual desire in women. It was approved by the FDA on August 18, 2015.

A warning on the box warns that combining the pill with alcohol can cause dangerously low blood pressure and fainting. That same risk can occur when taking the drug with other commonly prescribed medications, including antifungals used to treat yeast infections.

This is not a drug you take an hour before you have sex. You have to take it for weeks or months to see any benefit.

You should make sure you fully understand the risks associated with the use of Addyi before considering treatment. And of course you shouldn't be thinking about taking any prescription medicine unless it's been prescribed for you by your physician.

What is Viagra for Men?

Viagra increases blood flow to the penis to cause and maintain an erection.

Viagra works well for many men who suffer with erectile dysfunction because it is a physical...rather than an emotional...problem.

Viagra is not a universal solution for men. Only half of men who receive prescriptions for Viagra end up refilling their prescriptions. And the refill rate on the newer ED medications... Cialis and Levitra...is also low.

Men Need a Place for Having Sex...
Women Need a Purpose

Men's sexual dysfunction involves mostly erectile dysfunction...a mechanical problem.

Men and women are fundamentally different when it comes to desire and arousal.

Female sexual dysfunction is complicated...it isn't exclusively a mechanical problem.

Lack of sexual arousal in women can have more to do with the quality of her relationship and lifestyle than brain chemicals.

What is "Female Sexual Dysfunction"?

Female sexual dysfunction is a lack of desire... arousal... and/or orgasm.

Lack of desire affects about one-third of women at some time in their lives.

Lack of desire concerns women... whether single... starting a new relationship... and particularly when they yearn to desire their long-term partner as much as they did when their love was new.

Is This a Problem?

A 1999 survey in the Journal of American Medical Association that found 43 percent of U.S. women had some type of sexual dysfunction... compared to 31 percent of men.

Why?

A woman's lack of sexual interest is very often tied to her relationship with her partner.

The most important sex organ for women is her brain.

Female sexual dysfunction is more often psychologically...rather than physically...rooted. Sexuality for women is influenced by many factors:

  • Daily stress or depression.

  • Job problems.

  • Financial worries.

  • Concerns about children or family.

  • A negligent or unsupportive partner.

  • Physical challenges can contribute to a woman's lack of sexual desire...such as...
  • Fatigue.

  • Illness.

  • Thyroid disorders.

  • Chronic disease such as diabetes, hypertension or heart disease.
  • Chemical imbalances can also add to the problem...such as...
  • Prescription drugs...particularly anti-hypertensives and depression medication.
  • Over-the-counter medications.

  • Alcohol abuse.

  • Recreational drug use.
